About Pain & Performance Coach

Hello I'm Mike Makher,

An educator that was originally trained with an emphasis on physical rehabilitation and movement (I even earned a clinical doctorate in that focus, specifically the DPT).  I also have a certification as a USA Olympic Weightlifting Coach (Level 1) but my interests are less focused on the sport of Olympic Weightlifting and more on the general public and athletes in other sports.

I’m not here simply to fix you or treat/train youbut rather empower you to be the best version of you that you can be and live a better life even if you have chronic pain or fatigue. As a coach and educator I will help you overcome challenges with movement, the gym, and understand how to use the tools available to you to be as physically capable as you can reasonably be.

I’ve worked with a countless number of people who struggle with hypermobility spectrum syndromes and connective tissue disorders (everything on that spectrum including but not limited to Ehlers Danlos Syndrome & Marfans Syndrome), chronic fatigue syndromes, congenital/childhood acquired disability, neurological issues, and/or persistent pain.

Personal Exercise and Wellness Coaching

The fact is I’ve worked with a wide range of clients from elite special forces and professional athletes to low functioning de-conditioned senior citizens. I’ve trained kids as young as 8 years old and seniors as old as 98 years old.

Rehabilitation and Recovery

As a physical therapist I currently work with an extremely diverse caseload of patients from elite athletes to people with Ehlers Danlos syndrome and even people with Long COVID.

Your Partner in Recovery and Wellness

Coach, Educator, and Doctor of Physical Therapy

I’m a hypermobility specialist and strength and conditioning coach with extensive continuing education training and multiple certifications.

After spending over 4 years working with the hypermobile population I’ve come to realize the current system is not built to properly address anything outside of ordinary average health issues. I’ve seen the same for most athletes, to be honest, over the entirety of my career. So regardless of what your clinical presentation is, I’m going to figure out a way to make the system work for you rather than causing issues for you.

I’ve treated and coached people from the age of 6 to 103. My training and work has taken me to New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago, and the greater Portland (OR) area. I’ve worked for both large corporations and small practices; as a result I’ve seen what the full spectrum of physical therapy and chiropractic practice looks like across this country.

Education:
I was admitted to and attended the most competitive institution in NY state and city for my clinical doctorate (the City University of New York). Years prior to that I earned my Bachelors of Science degree from the Pennsylvania State University.
